About

A word after a word after a word is power.

–Margaret Atwood

When writing for publication, readers come first. End of story.
This is the core of my editorial philosophy after more than 15 years as a writing professional. From community journalism to academic editing to fiction, writing is writing is writing is always, always, always about what’s best for your readers.

On this site, you won’t be subjected to navel-gazing nonsense about “art,” and we don’t elevate “literary” writing over communicating clearly to the masses. We’re thoughtful about gatekeeping, and we think society has much more pressing problems than the odd bit of profanity. Deal with it.

If you’d like to engage in the comments section, we’d love to have you. Comments are presently subject to manual moderation. Wheaton’s Law prevails. Don’t be spammy.

Looking to get in touch? Before messaging me, please read through these frequently asked questions below to see if I’ve answered them for you already. It saves my time and yours.

What’s your deal? I’m a married mother of five, and I manage a business. I am both a foster-adoptive parent and a bio mom. I worked remotely and from home pre-kids, and I still do. When I discuss parenting in the context of organizing one’s ducks, rest assured this is stuff we live every day.

We’re tucked away near the Continental Divide in the Rockies of Montana. This is not your suburban mommy blog.

Why should I listen to you? You don’t have to, but you most likely landed here because you were searching for something.

I have a writing or a work-from-home question. Can I send it to you? Absolutely! As noted below, I can’t guarantee a personalized response, but I may be able to answer it on the blog.

Will you promote my book? We might! We’ll consider very recent (2020) and upcoming works in the following categories. Message us to submit an electronic advance review copy (ARC). Submitting an ARC for review purposes does not create a binding commitment to publish or promote the work. Standard disclaimer rules apply.
Montana authors: Be sure to note this when submitting!
Rocky Mountain West-based authors: If you hail from Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, or Arizona, you may submit your book for consideration. Make sure your home base clearly labeled in your submission materials.
Subject matter: work-from-home jobs, parenting, writing and editing

Will you edit my story? Thanks so much for thinking of me! At this time, my editorial calendar is closed to new clients. The blog will be updated if this changes at a future date.

Do you take paid consultations? My spring calendar is closed due to current commitments. The blog will be updated when and if we are able to reopen.

Can I advertise with you? Maybe. Send me a message to discuss.
